Webinar Video: Design Against Failure Using ANSYS Explicit STR

Throughout its life-cycle, a product may experience extreme loading conditions, ranging from a drop test on a hand-held device to an impact on a large scale hazardous chemical tank. Accurately assessing the ability of the design to survive under drops and shocks, including the consequences of uncontained failure on the immediate surroundings, can be crucial and may be necessary for certification. General purpose FEA solvers are typically unable to predict the stress wave propagation effects that are dominant with such load cases.

ANSYS Explicit STR is based on the Lagrangian portion of the full ANSYS AUTODYN solver. Available within the ANSYS Mechanical Enterprise suite ANSYS Explicit STR is the only structural program that is fully integrated into an environment capable of incorporating a range of multiphysics solutions, including electrical, thermal, mechanical and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).

ANSYS Explicit STR will enable you to simulate impact loading accurately within the ANSYS Workbench environment – renowned for its ease of use and integration with CAD.

This recorded webinar discusses how you can assess the performance of your product under extreme conditions using ANSYS Explicit STR.

Topics covered include:

  • Introduction to explicit analysis
  • Demonstration of stress wave propagation
  • Overview of ANSYS Explicit STR
  • Demonstration of drop test simulation
  • Q&A Session
