DEFORM for Machining Simulation

DEFORM is used to simulate and optimize milling, drilling, turning, tapping and other machining processes while predicting product distortion due to material removal. Powerful meshing and re-meshing capabilities enable small features such as swarf and tool coatings to be modelled.

Control Distortion and Optimize Machining Processes

Using DEFORM's unique large deformation calculation and meshing capabilities, process and tooling engineers and researchers can accurately model a wide range of machining operations.

Typical Machining Processes

  • Turning

  • Boring

  • Grooving

  • Milling

  • Drilling

  • Reaming

Applications

DEFORM includes process wizards and templates to assist the set up of machining simulations such as turning, boring, grooving, milling and drilling.

...the support provided by Wilde Analysis has always been exceptional.

University of Sheffield (AMRC)

Manufacturing research is crucial for advancements in quality, production and in reducing the costs associated with the manufacture of parts. Finite element analysis is a powerful tool used to assist this process. DEFORM has been used as a tool to more effectively understand the machining process.
