Heat Transfer Society Webinar Forum
Hosted in conjunction with the Heat Transfer Society (HTS), this webinar recording presents the latest simulation technologies for heat transfer applications.
Presented by:
- David Norton, Chair – Heat Transfer Society
- Alex Jones, Senior Engineer & Brian Miller, Director – Wilde Analysis Ltd
Summary
Controlling heat is critical to performance, efficiency, reliability, safety and durability of many products and processes – from heat exchangers to electronics.
Using simulation, engineers can gain insight and mitigate root causes of actual and predicted problems. Furthermore, it becomes practical to evaluate many alternative designs, optimizing performance while ensuring safety under various operating scenarios.
Depending on the problem, a range of numerical techniques can be applied, including CFD and FEA. Relatively simple single physics models are often sufficient whereas mixed methods are required for conjugate heat transfer and coupled stress.
The challenge for many companies is incorporating simulation into design workflows, when constrained by skills, time and budget. This webinar discusses how developers, such as Ansys, and consultants address this both technically and commercially. New GPU developments enable low-cost, easily-accessible “real time” simulation while pay-as-you-go cloud solutions help ROI.
Wilde Analysis is both an engineering consultancy and Ansys partner. Alex Jones is experienced in modelling a wide range of thermal problems. Brian Miller has spent 30 years helping implement simulation within multinationals and SMEs.
