Complementary to ANSYS, Optimus is a  leading process integration and optimisation software that automates ‘trial-and-error’ simulation-based design processes. With powerful optimisation algorithms, Optimus gives you a unified, flexible parametric-based optimisation capability to use with all your FEA, CFD, CAD and 1D modelling programs for design and reliability studies.

Optimus-design-response-chartOnce your simulation process is captured by Optimus as an integrated workflow, you are able to explore the ‘design space’ of your products and processes by modifying selected input parameters and searching for new designs that are more reliable with better functional performance. The advanced design optimisation methods available in Optimus enable the following:

  • Design Space Exploration, such as Design of Experiments (DOE) and Response Surface Modeling (RSM)
  • Numerical Optimisation, based on gradient-based local algorithms or genetic global algorithms, both for single or multiple objectives with continuous and/or discrete design variables
  • Robustness and Reliability Engineering, including methods to assess and optimise the variability of design outputs based on variable design inputs.

Increasingly, an optimisation study using simulation and engineering calculation tools involves a wide variety of dedicated applications developed in-house or discretely used across the organisation. Optimus offers standard connections, direct interfaces and a user programming framework to enable process integration.

optimus-user-interfaceOptimus supports a comprehensive range of result processing and presentation tools. You can post-process either on the raw data generated by Design Of Experiments (DOE), Optimisation or Robustness and Reliability methods or on the generated Response Surface Models (RSMs). Various filters are available to visualize a specific area of the design space and customising tables, 2D/3D plots and statistical calculations is easily undertaken. You can also import DOE experiments undertaken outside of Optimus via text or Excel files to take advantage of the powerful post-processing capabilities

Optimus provides an intuitive interface to quickly integrate any commercial or in-house simulation and engineering calculation software. The launch and execution of these tools can be embedded inside the Optimus workflow without any user programming or exposure to complex file syntax. With an intuitive drag-and-drop approach to process flow creation, parameter mapping and problem formulation, Optimus can easily control the parameterisation and automatic substitution of design variables, together with the extraction of simulation results.

For added simplicity, direct interfaces for popular simulation and calculation programs are also available, including ANSYS Workbench, ABAQUS, MS-Excel, ANSA/META Post, AVLWorkspace, CATIA-V5, LMS Virtual.Lab, LMS Imagine.Lab, LS-DYNA, MATLAB, SAMCEF and Ricardo Wave.

Optimus is developed by Noesis Solutions.
