Effective thermal management is important is so many different areas of design and engineering. From a circuit overheating to a ship’s hull becoming brittle in icy water, issues can spring up from virtually anywhere and cause a wide range of problems. We may need to prevent overheating, maximise insulation or ensure efficient heat transfer in a new product or system. This is why accurate predictions of temperature and heat transfer can be so important, and where simulation can prove invaluable when it comes to identifying and solving these challenges.
In this video, we give an overview of different thermal concerns, and begin to consider the physics at work in each case. This helps us to identify the correct tools we might need when beginning a simulation, and how the Ansys suite of software addresses these needs.
This is the first video in our series on thermal management. The next will provide more detail on thermal modelling in Ansys Mechanical , and will be released next week.
