Date: 24th June

Time: 8am (BST)

New digital and engineering technologies, including in tunnel boring machines (TBM), allow us to build larger tunnels in more challenging locations but still construct them safer and with less project and construction risk.

Join Richard Witasse from Bentley Systems and Jean-Pierre Janin from Terrasol, Setec for a story of great geotechnical engineering and o learn how to deploy PLAXIS 3D for TBM tunelling analysis and efficient tunnel contruction modeling.

Registration / Further Information

Simply choose one of the following options to receive further information or to register.

Please note that this event is free to attend but registration is essential.

In this webinar you will learn how to:

  • Deploy PLAXIS 3D modelling workflow for tunnel analysis
  • Use PLAXIS 3D Tunnel designer
  • Deploy PLAXIS 3D for modelling of an EPB tunnel boring machine
  • Reconcile 3D FE numerical predictions and in situ measurements

Speakers

Richard Witasse

Principal Consultant, Geotechnical

Bentley Systems, Inc.

Richard Witasse began his career as a Software Developer in the field of finite element analyses of reinforced concrete structures. After a couple of years, he became Application Engineer, domain he has always been professionally busy with since then. With more than 15 years’ experience in the field of finite element software related services (consultancy, user support, technical pre-sales, training courses,…), Richard is nowadays recognized by his peers as a FEA expert with strong emphasis on geomechanics. Joined Bentley in 2018 after the acquisition of PLAXIS.

Jean-Pierre Janin

Manager Underground Structures Unit

Terrasol, Setec

For more than 12 years, Dr. Janin is at the forefront of tunneling and geoengineering. He joined the French geotechnical engineering group Terrasol in 2008 with his first project being the management of the studies within the Project Management team of the Toulon South tunnel. Currently Dr. Janin is Manager Underground Structures Unit with Terrasol and also teaches courses in geotechnical engineering in French universities.

Dr. Janin is an tunnel analysis expert and conducts research in the areas of tunneling and underground works, soil-structure interaction, back-analysis studies on in situ measurements for optimization and correction of constructive choices, 2D and 3D FE numerical analysis, soil reinforcement and ground improvement.

Dr. Janin has a PhD in Civil Engineering from the National Institute for Applied Sciences Lyon, France and a MSc in Geotechnical Engineering, POLITECNICO di Torino, Italy. Dr. Janin is a member of CFMS (“Comité Français de Mécanique des Sols et de Géotechnique” / French Committee for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering) and AFTES (Association Française des Travaux en Souterrain).
