Foundations of Computational Electromagnetics | Ansys Webinar
  • 22nd March 2022
    3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Date: 22 March, 2022

Time: 3 PM GMT

Join us on Tuesday, March 22nd, 2022, at 3 p.m. GMT to learn about the different types of computational electromagnetic solvers that are used to solve real-world engineering problems.

About this Webinar

Ansys has many solvers that deal with different aspects of electromagnetic physics, from quasi-static electric and magnetic fields through RF and microwave to visible light, at scales ranging from individual transistors to many city blocks.  This presentation will provide an overview of the different approaches used in these solvers and discuss some of the trade-offs in choosing the best solution method for a particular application.

Please note that this event is free to attend but registration is essential.

What you will learn

  • Watch the different ways to express Maxwell’s equations: integral-vs-differential, time-vs-frequency domain, and how these give rise to different types of solvers
  • Learn what a full-wave field solver is
  • See the differences between finite elements (FEM) and finite difference time domain (FDTD)
  • Observe what an integral equation solver is and how does it differ from other EM solvers
  • Discover the importance of electrical length in choosing between different types of solvers: quasi-static, full-wave, and asymptotic methods
  • See how advanced hybrid field solvers combine different EM solver technologies
  • Combine electromagnetic solvers with thermal and mechanical solvers to perform multiphysics simulations
