Gearboxes transmit power from generators to consumers. Proper lubrication of the rotating gears and bearings is essential for the performance and lifetime of the boxes. Designers must make sure that enough oil reaches the rotating parts, whether it is applied by grease or splash/forced spray of industrial oils. CFD is a great tool for achieving this goal as it can compute the immiscible motion of the oil–gas phase as well as the temperature of components in gearboxes.

In this webinar, we present industrial case studies in which Ansys Fluent CFD solutions for gear box lubrication were applied, resulting in good agreement with the test data. We also introduce an end-to-end automated workflow, ACT-Gearbox, which eases the inherent simulation challenges and improves productivity.
