Wilde Helps Client Make a Splash with New Swimming Pool UV System

December 21st, 2015

atg UV Technology used Wilde’s fluid flow simulation expertise to optimise a key component in what is now the world’s most compact UV system designed for the swimming pool industry.

ATG_images_09_12_15Wilde’s client, atg UV Technology, has recently launched the world’s most compact UV System – the WF (Wafer) Range – Medium Pressure. At around a third of the size of comparative UV systems, this range is the next generation of aquatic medium pressure UV systems designed specifically for the swimming pool industry.

Wilde’s simulation engineers have been closely involved with the development of the WF design, also known as the Wafer due to its unique UV chamber design. atg employed Wilde’s simulation expertise to maximise the benefit of atg UV’s leading polychromatic lamp technology by optimising the lamp layout for maximum inactivation of chlorine-resistant microorganisms such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia.

Simon Leefe, Wilde’s Technical Director, commented:

“Wilde Analysis has developed a close working relationship with atg UV, who effectively now use us as an extension of their design department because of both our capabilities in Multiphysics simulation and our responsiveness to their requirements. Together, we have developed efficient techniques for the optimisation of UV disinfection reactors and for characterisation of their in-service performance with respect to different water qualities, system flow rates and target microorganisms. Optimisation of lamp layout for the WF range was completed in a few days. For aquatics applications, Wilde also helps atg UV to optimise system installation layout and advise on clean-up time following faecal incidents.”
