ReliaSoft Xfmea
ReliaSoft’s Xfmea software tool facilitates data management and reporting for all types of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) that you may undertake. The software provides pre-defined settings to fit the major industry standards (such as AIAG FMEA-3 or FMEA-4, SAE J1739 and MIL-STD-1629A) and also provides extensive customisation options.
Overview
Xfmea provides a flexible and powerful set of tools to help you:
- Record and manage data for current failure mode and effects analyses
- Find and re-use relevant information from existing FMEAs
- Evaluate risk via RPN or Criticality Analysis
- Track the completion of recommended actions
- Present the FMEA data via reports, queries and charts
- Integrate the FMEA with related analyses (such as Process Flow Diagrams, Control Plans and Test Plans).
The software is available in two versions:
- Xfmea Standard stores data in individual Microsoft Access® databases and may be appropriate for individuals or small departments.
- Xfmea Enterprise stores data in a centralized SQL Server® or Oracle® database and may be preferred by large departments and organizations.

User Interface
Support for All Types of FMEA and FMECA
In addition to providing predefined profiles for all major reporting standards (such as SAE J1739, AIAG FMEA and MIL-STD-1629A) and FMEA types (such as Design FMEA, Process FMEA, System FMEA and FMECA), Xfmea provides flexible capabilities to customize the interface and reports to meet the specific needs of your organization. This includes the ability to select and name the data fields you want to capture and display; set classifications, categories, priorities and other menu options; determine rating scales and criteria, etc.
Inputs and Outputs
Xfmea allows you to enter and view FMEA data in three complementary views: the traditional “worksheet” format, an intuitive hierarchical tree view or a sortable list filtered by record type (e.g. Causes ranked by RPN or Actions by Due Date). You can easily switch back and forth among the views in order to display the information in the best way to facilitate your current activity.
Xfmea provides a complete set of FMEA, FMECA and related reports, graphical charts and flexible ad-hoc queries that allow you to display analysis information in the most effective ways to support decision-making.
Easy to Find and Re-Use Existing Analysis Data or Phrases from Predefined Libraries
By storing your analysis information in a relational database, Xfmea enables you to build and manage valuable, keyword searchable “knowledge bases” of existing FMEA information that can be shared throughout your organization. The software makes it easy to find and re-use descriptions from any existing analysis or to select phrases from predefined libraries. When applicable, this information can be sorted and/or filtered to help you find the data you need. You also have the option to quickly import system configuration or existing FMEA data from outside data sources (using predefined Excel® templates).
Extensive Actions Management Capabilities
Xfmea helps the team to track the progress on recommended actions and “close the loop” to assure that improvements are implemented. Options include the ability to send automated notifications via e-mail and to generate flexible reports and charts that can be used to track progress on completing assigned tasks.
APQP Integration with Related Analyses
Xfmea enables you to transfer relevant data between your Design FMEAs and Process FMEAs and also provides integrated utilities for related analyses, such as Design Verification Plans (DVP&Rs), Design Reviews Based on Failure Mode (DRBFMs), Process Flow Diagrams and Control Plans.
