New PLAXIS 2D with Design Approaches & Partial Safety Factors for ULS Calculation to Eurocode 7
After the successful introduction of PLAXIS 3D 2011 last summer, Wilde Analysis is delighted to announce the new release of PLAXIS 2D 2011. This latest version enables any safety approach based on partial factors to be easily incorporated, including Eurocode 7.

The new PLAXIS 2D 2011 is equipped, amongst others, with the new feature Design Approaches. Design approaches is a convenient facility to help PLAXIS users set up an Ultimate Limit State (ULS) calculation, in a generic way such that any safety approach based on partial factors can be easily introduced (Eurocode 7, LRFD, etc.). It offers a more structured and efficient way of modelling since you can store a coherent set of partial factors for loads and materials in one location. Design approaches can be easily applied during the definition of phases to make an ULS calculation in addition to a Serviceability Limit State (SLS) calculation. Furthermore there is easy exchange of design approaches between different PLAXIS projects, due to the possibility to import/export a defined Design Approach. For more information and details, please view Plaxis Bulletin issue 30.
Further new and improved features include the input of Bending Moments as a load on structures, preview of calculation results, the Sekiguchi-Ohta model (VIP only), and improved parallelization (VIP only).
Please contact us for further details on PLAXIS 2D 2011 and to obtain a free PLAXIS Introductory CD. Existing PLAXIS users with VIP will automatically be eligible to upgrade. Cost options are available on request for non-VIP users.
