TUNREN - Tunnel Design
TUNREN assists tunnel design through 2 calculation methods, a user-friendly interface for data input and result analysis, and numerous wizards to help with safey factors, concrete moduli and the material database.

Overview
TUNREN is a tool for tunnel design including 2 modules:
- Lateral support: Convergence/Confinement method
- Tunnel face behavior: Extrusion method (developed by Mr Henry WONG, license CNRS-ENTPE)

Calculation Methods
1. For Lateral Support: Convergence/Confinement Method
This is the classical AFTES methods, taking into account different support types (concrete, arches, bolts), with 3 approaches incorporated to determine the deconfinement ratio:
- Similarity of CORBETTA
- Similarity of PANET
- Implicit classic
2. For Tunnel Faces: Extrusion method developed by Henry Wong (license CNRS-ENTPE)
Stress-strains analytical method allowing the evaluation of extrusion displacements and of the tunnel face stability:
- without reinforcements ;
- with longitudinal bolts;
- with a face confining pressure (when using TBM).
Results
- Face displacements.
- Plastic radii for soil and bolts.
- Tractions in bolts.
- Principal stresses in the soil.
A “c-phi reduction” calculation makes it possible to evaluate a safety factor with repect to the tunnel face stability.
