Geotechnical applications require advanced constitutive models for the simulation of the non linear, time dependent and anisotropic behaviour of soils and/or rock. The analysis was urgently required to confirm that the effects of the proposed top down construction process would adequately limit settlement of sensitive adjacent structures.
