PLAXIS is the leading geotechnical finite element software, specifically developed for the 2D and 3D analysis of deformation, stability and groundwater flow. It is currently used by over 3000 engineers worldwide in the civil engineering, nuclear, oil & gas and renewable energy industries. Renowned for its ease of use and accurate soil models, it will help you optimise your designs and reduce conservatism compared to relying on traditional methods.
Geotechnical applications require advanced constitutive models for the simulation of the non linear, time dependent and anisotropic behaviour of soils and/or rock. In addition, since soil is a multi phase material, special procedures are required to deal with hydrostatic and non hydrostatic pore pressures in the soil. PLAXIS software has been optimised to accurately simulate this highly non-linear behaviour. PLAXIS includes geometry creation tools and automated settings to allow geotechnical problems to be analysed efficiently & accurately with the minimum of training.
PLAXIS software is developed in Delft, The Netherlands by Plaxis bv.

“We have recently carried out analysis of the construction of a basement excavation in central London. The analysis was urgently required to confirm that the effects of the proposed top down construction process would adequately limit settlement of sensitive adjacent structures. The analysis was carried out using PLAXIS 2D v9 and comprised the study of three key cross sections for the conceivable range of soil stiffnesses. PLAXIS proved an excellent tool for carrying out the study allowing the rapid modelling of the proposed construction stages and clear and concise output for review by third parties.” Director, RJM Ground Solutions Ltd
PLAXIS 2D 2011 Suite, comprising PLAXIS 2D 2011, Dynamics and PlaxFlow, is the most comprehensive, robust and user-friendly FEA solution available to help you address a wide range of geotechnical design issues. The two dimensional analysis modules can also be purchased separately.
Certain geotechnical problems situation can only be analysed effectively by means of detailed 3D FEA models, incorporating optimised models for simulating soil behaviour and soil-structure interaction. Plaxis bv have developed a range of 3D products built on their proven, robust solver technology to ...
