CFD - Computational Fluid Dynamics
CFD – Computational Fluid Dynamics – is a powerful analysis technology for improving performance and robustness, encouraging innovation, reducing prototype costs and shortening development lead times. Wilde supplies the most popular CFD software worldwide with invaluable insight from a dedicated fluid dynamics technical team. Together, our products and services can enhance your existing fluid engineering capabilities.

The Benefits of CFD
Unfortunately there are no ’Roark’s formulas’ for fluids. Few standard solutions exist for fluid flows and often problems involve complex coupled interactions between mechanical, thermal and chemical processes. Traditionally, engineers would reply upon stand-alone models of principal phenomena based on simplified interpretations of their geometry. However, CFD technology can:
- Accurately predict flow patterns, pressures, temperatures and concentrations in a vast range of applications, with realistic CAD geometry and proper treatment of interactions.
- Simulate your fluids’ behaviour with the right properties at the right scale and operating conditions.
- Provide a clear 3D window inside or around your equipment so that you can see exactly what is going on within your design, unlike correlations and “black box” models.
CFD is safe, clean and nearly always cheaper and faster than experimentation.
Our Value
We understand fluids behaviour is intrinsically complex and cannot be simulated accurately and effectively with CFD simply by pressing a few buttons. Our fluid dynamics engineers exploit CFD technology to solve problems but are not afraid to recommend hand calculations and empirical formula when more appropriate. Consequently, with in-depth awareness of the analysis requirements of industry, we can provide you with expert and critical guidance in the selection of CFD software.
“Wilde have always demonstrated a knowledgeable and professional understanding to our needs, and have been able to quickly and thoroughly assimilate our requirements, and equally quickly produce the necessary results to support our design process and provide guidance on the solution(s) best suiting our needs commercially and technically.” MAHLE Industrial Filtration UK Ltd.
Our software solutions centre on the world leading ANSYS fluid dynamics suite – an integrated framework that can analyse most thermal and fluid flow applications, including those involving rotating machinery, multiphase, chemical reactions and extreme turbulence. Fluid-structural interaction (FSI) problems can be solved by coupling with FEA capabilities. In addition to software, you will have access to expert CFD and Multiphysics technical services for training, mentoring and to solve demanding problems that you are currently not in a postion to tackle in-house with simulation.
